This week I'll be visiting one of my grown
daughters near Boston, and the new Schooner 18 is coming along. On
Saturday, weather permitting, I'll be sailing out to the Isles
of Shoals, a group of nine rocky islands six
miles off the New Hampshire and Maine coast. A customer who lives nearby is
planning to come along as crew. (He owns a Swifty 15' and has been out to the
Shoals a few times in a larger boat.)
We'll set sail from Portsmouth Harbor, probably under power to get
out into open water. If we luck out and there's a nice beam reach wind it might
take a couple of hours to get to the Isles under sail. If the wind isn't
favorable, we'll be under power some of the time, but I'm hoping we can sail
most of the way there and back.
Most likely, we will land on Star Island,
location of the Retreat and Conference Center where a Unitarian conference
takes place each year.
I'll
be sharing photos, videos and notes from the trip, so stay tuned!
